Federal Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has said work on the Sukkur-Hyderabad and Hyderabad-Karachi motorways will commence this year, with the project starting from Sukkur and expected to be completed in two years.

Speaking to reporters in Karachi, he said a new motorway will additionally be built between Karachi and Hyderabad, and it will not be linked to the existing M-9 motorway.

He said the new project will be a gift for the residents of Sindh and the rest of the country this year.

Talking alongside leaders of the All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance, Abdul Aleem Khan said the administration will arrange space for truck stands and build rest areas for transporters with all facilities.

He also promised that no unfair traffic challans would be issued to transporters. However, he called on them to ensure they do not carry more than the prescribed load.
