BHUBANESWAR: The Election Commission has completed the hearing process for 54.21 lakh voters. This person were issued notices as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, and retained their names in the list, authorities stated on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the office of chief electoral officer (CEO) RS Gopalan remarked notices were issued to 58, 36, 430 voters over logical anomalies and unmapping matters. Of these, 58, 36, 374 notices were successfully served. After hearing and verification, 54, 21, 872 voters have so far been retained in the electoral roll.
After which the final electoral roll will be published on September 21, the CEO office stated, the hearing process for the remaining cases is scheduled to be completed by September 17.
Meanwhile, the deadline for filing claims and objections to the draft electoral roll prepared after the first phase of the SIR concluded on August 19. So far, 3, 09, 71, 941 eligible voters have been discovered qualified for inclusion in the final roll. Bhubaneswar: Chief electoral officer of Maharashtra S Chockalingam has appreciated the Odisha model of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls implementation and the systematic approach adopted by the state, particularly in respect of mapping, monitoring, notice generation and hearings.
In an interaction with CEO Odisha RS Gopalan on Thursday, Chockalingam expressed that the best practices shared by Odisha would be examined and adopted suitably in Maharashtra for effective implementation of the SIR exercise. Gopalan, who visited Maharashtra on an invitation from his counterpart, shared the best practices on implementation of the ongoing SIR exercise in the state.
