Struggling Southern California households could have up to $8, 000 in unpaid electric bills wiped away – if they qualify for an Edison program that forgives the debt after 12 months of on-time payments.

Customers must be enrolled in the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) or Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) discount programs, have applied Edison for at least six months, owe more than $500 and have produced at least one payment previously two years.
