Taliban claims success against Pakistan terrorists: 'Killed 28 fighters & wounded 32 others'. By Dipanjan Roy Chaudhury. ET BureauLast Updated: Sep 29, 2026, 12: 23: 00 AM IST.

Taliban has asserted that its forces killed 28 fighters and wounded 32 others in Afghanistan's Nuristan province after alleged ISIS militants crossed the border from Pakistan. Afghanistan's defence ministry remarked the group entered Kamdesh district with aims to carry out attacks and accused Pakistan-backed forces of supporting the infiltration. Pakistan has not yet responded to the claim.

For context, the Taliban regime has asserted major success against alleged Pakistan military-backed ISIS insurgents who it stated had crossed into Afghanistan. On Sunday, Afghanistan's defence ministry asserted that its forces had killed 28 fighters and wounded 32 others in eastern Nuristan province. The infiltrators, the ministry asserted, included Daesh or ISIS extremists who had crossed the border from Pakistan. The incident comes less than a week after Pakistan conducted airstrikes inside Afghanistan on September 21 as bilateral ties continue to be affected. Meanwhile, the Afghan defence ministry's claim is a direct accusation of Pakistani state involvement in an armed infiltration. As per the ministry, the group crossed into Kamdesh district, near the Pakistani border, on Saturday with the intention of carrying out attacks.

In practice, the Taliban forces introduced an operation after which surviving fighters fled back, the ministry stated. Pakistan has not yet responded to the Taliban's statement. Add Now!
