Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, on Tuesday (August 18, 2026), inaugurated, through video conference from the Secretariat in Chennai, facilities constructed at a cost of ₹23.67 crore at the Arulmigu Mariamman Temple in Irukkankudi in Virudhunagar district.

The facilities inaugurated by the Chief Minister included a tonsure hall, an annadhanam hall, dining halls and 235 shops selling puja articles. The temple comes under the administration of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department.

He also handed over appointment orders to 80 persons selected by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) for various posts in the HR&CE Department. This is the first time the HR&CE Department has recruited Assistant Engineers (Construction) and Assistant Sthapathis through the TNPSC.

HR&CE Minister Ramesh, Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar, Secretary of Commercial Taxes, Registration and HR&CE J. Kumagurubaran, and HR&CE Commissioner T.G. Vinay participated.
