The Thanjavur All Woman Police have arrested a woman teacher and a retired teacher under POCSO Act based on a complaint lodged by the principal of a private school in Thanjavur.
According to the police, the accused, Divya, 38, was working in a private school near the Thanjavur New Bus Stand. She used to take tuition for students at her home in Eswari Nagar on Medical College Road, Thanjavur.
She allegedly was in a relationship with Shanmughasundararaj, 61, a retired physical education teacher of Thanjavur, and he would visit her during the tuition hours. In September last year, he took the mobile number of a 16-year-old girl student attending the tuition class from Divya.
Subsequently, Shanmughasundararaj called the student and used repulsive words. As the accused retired teacher continued talking in a obscene manner, the girl complained to her school principal. This person lodged a complaint with the Thanjavur All Woman Police.
