After The Hindu documented that hundreds of students and teachers being forced to endure foul smell emanating from garbage dumped close to the school compound wall in the edition of August 21, Bengaluru Solid Waste Management office-holders have obtained the waste cleared and garbage trucks have been moved 100 metres away.

Meanwhile, taking a serious note of the report in the newspaper, Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa has written a letter to the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao.

Mr. Bangarappa has instructed the commissioner to take measures not to dump waste or park garbage trucks near the school. "There are possibilities of children falling sick due to dumping waste, leachate smell from the trucks and rats infesting classroom. It is instructed to take measures not to park truck or dump waste near school and college in J.C. Nagar, " the letter read.

Speaking to The Hindu, Ayesha, in-charge principal of Administration Urdu Higher Primary School, stated, "We will monitor the residents as well as pourakarmikas during school open hours and prevent them from dumping waste or parking the trucks near the school compound wall."
