Tirunelveli SP’s surprise visit to check posts, police outposts

Superintendent of Police Vishwesh Balasubramaniam Shastri had a surprise visit at a few police outposts and check posts on Sunday night.

As the drive against illegal movement of liquor, drugs and banned tobacco products by intensifying vehicle checks has been stepped up across the district, armed police personnel have been deployed in the check posts and police outposts. Vishwesh visited the police outposts at Seethaparpanallur, Rastha and Uganthanpatti, all problematic areas, late in the night on Sunday to check if the police personnel manning these points were alert.

During the inspection, the SP checked the vehicle check records and cases registered against the vehicles for traffic rule violations like riding bikes without helmets, manoeuvring vehicles under the influence of alcohol, rash driving, overloading etc.

After this inspection, Mr. Viswesh visited the check post at Ramaiyanpatti, another tough spot on Tirunelveli – Sankarankovil highway.

He instructed the police personnel manning these points to be vigil and check every vehicle crossing their points during the night.
