But that worry rapidly subsided when the rookie wide receiver returned to practice Friday as the team prepares for its next preseason matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Tate appeared in the Titans' preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers last week but failed to record a single catch despite being targeted multiple times in the first half. Speaking with reporters Friday, Titans franchise quarterback Cam Ward explained how, regardless of how plenty of targets he gets, Tate never seems bothered or makes an problem of it – and that's exactly what makes him so special.

"He plays one of the hardest positions in sports. You're either going to obtain the ball, or you're not going to secure the ball. He never demonstrates that to the team, whether he's frustrated or not. The thing regarding Carnell, whether he has a drop or I have a bad pass, he never points a finger at nobody. He always comes back with a next-play mentality, " Ward remarked.

"I think the best thing regarding him is that he wants the ball. So when the ball does obtain thrown his way, he's urgent to it. He goes up and high-points it, and there are times where he bails me out. He's been great. He may not have had the splash plays like he always does today, but he's going to be a key reason we're successful on offense."

After the Seattle game on Sunday, the Titans will close out their preseason next Saturday, Aug. 29, against the Chicago Bears. Head coach Robert Saleh has yet to announce whether Tate will play Sunday, but with the rookie probable to be relied on this season as the focal point of the offense, there's a chance Tennessee plays it safe and keeps him fresh for Week 1.
