Minister for Finance N. Marie Wilson on Tuesday assured the Legislative Assembly that the State government would implement the Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme (TAPS).
He stated the previous DMK regime had formed a committee headed by IAS officer Gagandeep Singh Bedi in this regard, and the committee had recommended several measures, including three notable ones — 50% of the last pay drawn as pension, gratuity, and family pension. The new government would definitely implement the scheme, he stated.
According to him, the TVK-led government had already kicked off giving interim payouts to pensioners. “We are framing the rules and operational guidelines for implementing the TAPS,” he added.
