Synopsis

The United Arab Emirates has suspended all trade activities and financial transactions with Iran. This decision follows regional escalation which undermined peace and security in the area. The UAE defense ministry detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran targeting maritime traffic. Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson rejected these claims as baseless and unfounded.

​The ​United Arab ​Emirates has suspended all ‌trade ⁠activities, ⁠exchanges ​and financial transactions ​with Iran until ​further ⁠notice, the country’s ‌foreign ​ministry ​said ⁠in an official note on ​Wednesday, citing ​regional escalation that ‌it stated undermined regional ​and ​international ⁠peace and security.

Direct cargo shipping between the Abu Dhabi and Tehran had only resumed in late June via Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port. The UAE had suspended direct shipping in early March, just days after the Middle East war began.
