The United States is looking to expand its trade and investment relationship with Pakistan, with artificial intelligence and emerging technologies emerging as key areas for deeper cooperation.
US Charge d’Affaires to Pakistan Natalie A Baker highlighted opportunities for greater collaboration during a visit to Lahore, saying American innovation and private sector partnerships could help create jobs, expand economic opportunities and backing shared prosperity.
“For more than two decades, the United States has been Pakistan’s largest export market and a leading source of investment,” Baker said.
Baker met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and her adviser on artificial intelligence and special initiatives, Ali Dar, to discuss emerging technologies, higher education and innovation. The meetings also focused on policies and partnerships that could encourage investment, entrepreneurship and technological development.
During a visit to the new Lahore location of American restaurant chain PF Chang’s, Baker highlighted the potential of US and Pakistani commercial partnerships. According to She, bilateral trade exceeded $8 billion in 2025.
What happened
Baker also visited US based NetSol Technologies, CodeNinja and Game District, where she examined Pakistan’s growing technology sector and discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in software development, digital services and artificial intelligence.
The US diplomat also met students at the National Institute of Technology and highlighted its partnership with Arizona State University. She presented the collaboration as an example of how American education expertise can create opportunities for Pakistani students while strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
At a roundtable, Baker highlighted the United States’ leadership in artificial intelligence and stressed the importance of trusted partnerships in turning technological innovation into economic growth, job creation and broader prosperity.
