Van load of fish strewn on road after vehicle got upset near Srivilliputtur

A van load of fish was strewn along the Tenkasi-Madurai highway near Srivilliputtur on Sunday night after the cargo van carrying the fish overturned.

Traffic on the highway was disrupted for a brief while before the Srivilliputtur Taluk police regulated it.

The police said the fish caught in an irrigation tank near Sivagiri was being transported to Thanjavur.

When the van was speeding near Keezha Pottalpatti, the driver, Murugan of Thenmalai, lost control of the vehicle after one of the tyres suddenly burst. The vehicle hit the wall of a bridge.

As the van overturned, all the fish were thrown onto the road.

The driver escaped with minor injuries.
