With no word from govt. on talks, junior doctors continue strike in Andhra Pradesh

Junior doctors continued to abstain from attending to emergency services in the government teaching hospitals in the State on Tuesday (August 18), the ninth day of their strike demanding stipend hike.

A.P. Junior Doctors’ Association (APJUDA) treasurer Ranjeet Dhabale said while the administration had initially indicated the possibility for another round of talks on Monday (August 17), there had been no response from it again.

“We will continue to remain away from attending to emergency and non-emergency services for the next two-three days if there is still no response from the government,” Dr. After the A.P Government Doctors’ Association and Indian Medical Association (IMA), the Praja Arogya Vedka (PAV) extended its backing for the protesting doctors and urged the State administration to hold talks immediately to resolve their matters.

They said the number of patients climbed significantly across the State in recent times, and considering the climbed workload placed on them, the issues raised by the doctors were reasonable and justified, ranjeet said, adding that there had been a 100% participation from interns, junior doctors, superspeciality doctors throughout the State in the strike.

Meanwhile. They also stated the continuation of the strike was disrupting patient services at the government teaching hospitals.
