Woman conservancy worker arrested under POCSO Act in Salem

A woman conservancy worker was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act here on Tuesday.

The arrested, Radika (42), a resident of Pudupalayam, was working as a government hostel warden. She allegedly developed a relationship with Ragupathi (35) of the same locality. According to Police, the duo employed to consume liquor at the hostel premises.

A few months ago, Ragupathi sexually assaulted two hostel girls aged 14 while he came to see Radika. The girls informed their parents about the incident and they lodged a complaint with the Vazhapadi All Women’s police. The police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested Radika on Tuesday, and are on the lookout for Ragupathi. This person was absconding.
