Poco has officially confirmed the chipsets powering its upcoming Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Ultra, removing one of the remaining uncertainties ahead of their September 1 global launch.

It remains a flagship 3nm processor with Qualcomm's third-generation Oryon CPU and Adreno graphics.

Notably, the V-series retains essentially the same flagship CPU configuration as the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 but uses a reduced GPU.

Its Adreno 840 GPU has eight compute units instead of 12, making it roughly 33% smaller. On-chip graphics memory is additionally reduced from 18MB to 12MB.

While the CPU retains much of the performance of the full flagship chip, the GPU still runs at 1.2GHz.

Moving to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series therefore represents a more meaningful generational upgrade for the F9 Pro than the Ultra receives this year.

While its reduced GPU configuration puts graphics performance much closer to that of the non-Elite chip, compared with the non-Elite Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, the V-series additionally offers a faster CPU.
