THE CHAIRMAN of the Joint Committee of Parliament on One Nation, One Election Bills, P P Chaudhary, on Monday remarked the Supreme Court on September 22 wrote to the committee confirming a gathering with its members at 4.30 pm on October 6, before deciding to cancel it on October 1 after objections raised to the proposed gathering.
As per the programme circulated to the panel members, the committee was scheduled to visit the court for a "local study visit", including an "informal discussion" with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and other judges of the Supreme Court "on the issue of simultaneous elections".
