Pakistan’s current account balance posted a deficit of $328 million to start the new fiscal year 2026-27 (FY27), according to data issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday.
During July 2026, the current account remained in red but lighter compared to a deficit of $530 million in July 2025.
According to Topline Securities, the narrower deficit was supported by a 17 percent MoM and 9 percent YoY rise in goods exports to $3 billion, marking the highest monthly export level in 19 months.
Imports remained broadly stable MoM at $6.2 billion.
Overall, the current account remained in deficit, but the shortfall narrowed significantly on a monthly and yearly basis.
